Neshobe Current Content and Editorial Policies as of 2/21/2026

To contact us about submitting an article please reach out to [email protected]. Your legal name, address, phone and email must accompany your article. We aim for communication that is neighborly and respectful, informative and factual, accessible to all readers, and focused on shared community well-being.

Please note that AI-written articles will not be accepted. We want to hear your voice.

Submissions must be:

  • Relevant to residents of Brandon, Pittsford, and surrounding areas

  • Accurate and verifiable

  • Clear and concise

  • Non-commercial and non-partisan

  • Respectful in tone

We expect primary content areas of the The Neshobe Current to include:

  • Brandon/Pittsford area-specific news and happenings, as well as some broader regional/state news that affects the lives of area residents. We expect this to include local municipal and school updates, community initiatives and projects, and local (non-promotional) business news.

  • Community life and activities, including coverage of community events, activities, and gatherings (including school performances and sports activities).

  • Informational pieces on topics of broad community interest (e.g., local history, gardening, seasonal preparedness, local wildlife, home energy savings, etc.)

  • Creative contributions from the community -- visual or written creative works (i.e., student art, photography, poetry) that reflect community life, seasons, or shared experiences. Submissions of puzzles, games, and comics are also welcome. All creative work must be original. Please let us know if you would like credit for your work or to have it published anonymously.

  • We welcome “In Memoriam” pieces that provide a short, respectful reflection on the individual’s life, personal qualities, and connection to the community. Reposted obituaries may also be published upon request.

  • Please note that editorials and op-eds will not be published at this time.

If you have an idea for a submission that doesn’t fit neatly into any of the categories listed but may have broad appeal to our audience, please contact us at [email protected].
