A Story Telling Event

WHEN: Monday 2/16/26, 1-3 pm

WHERE: Brandon Museum, 4 Grove St., Brandon, VT

WHAT: How did our ancestors weather the cold months and keep hope alive for milder days ahead?
In centuries past, many Old World villages, especially in Alpine dwellings, were isolated from neighboring communities for many winter months. They often found themselves separated by high snowdrifts and impassable icy trails making contact to the outside world impossible. Such isolation and rough conditions left folks yearning for the signs of hope for brighter days ahead. In restless anticipation of warmer days, regional rituals to cast out winter and call forth spring took root. Since the Middle Ages, some rituals have been kept alive and are annually showcased to this day.

WHO: Join Brandon resident, Dorothea Langevin, for a story-telling event where she will share memories of experiencing such seasonal traditions from the larger Alpine region where she grew up.
