A welfare check was requested on a guest staying at the Brandon Motor Lodge on Franklin Street. The subject was later located safe and sound and refused any assistance.
Crash - Property damage only, Park Street
Received a call regarding a single-car motor vehicle crash on Park Street. Since no Brandon Police officers were on duty at the time, the Vermont State Police-Rutland responded to the scene to investigate the crash.
Alarm, Franklin Street
Received an alarm activation at the Otter Valley Union High School on Franklin Street. The alarm was later determined to have been set off accidentally by an employee.
April 17
Crash - Non-Reportable, Wheeler Road
Received a call regarding a motor vehicle crash involving an SUV hitting a bear on Wheeler Road. The vehicle sustained minor damage and the bear ran off after it was hit by the vehicle.
VIN Verification, Grove Street
A VIN verification on a motorcycle was requested at Brandon Self Storage on Grove Street.
Violation of Conditions of Release, Forest Dale Road
Received a call regarding a possible violation of conditions of release on Forest Dale Road. The case was later closed due to lack of cooperation by the complainant.
Subpoena Service, Mulcahy Drive
Assisted the Castleton Police Department in attempting to serve a Notice of Hearing involving an Emergency Care Order on a male and female residing on Mulcahy Drive.
Mental Health Issue, Mulcahy Drive
Received a call regarding an individual having a mental health breakdown/crisis at an apartment building on Mulcahy Drive.
April 16
Violation of Conditions of Release, Supermarket Drive
Received a call from the Loss Prevention Officer for Hannaford Supermarket in Brandon regarding an individual who was continuing to shoplift, trespass, and violate their Conditions of Release despite being previously charged several times for similar crimes in court. Another investigation was opened and additional charges will be sought against the individual.
April 15
Domestic Assault-Misd., Newton Road
Received a late report of a domestic assault that occurred on Newton Road. An investigation was opened into the complaint and is ongoing at this time.
Lost/Found Property, Center Street
A lost wallet that was found on Center Street in Brandon was turned in to the Brandon Police Department. Attempts were made to contact the owner, but were unsuccessful.
Alarm, McConnell Road
Responded to the Green Mountain Market on McConnell Road for a building alarm activation. The responding officer made contact with some employees and determined that the activation was false.
April 14
Alarm, Forest Dale Road
A commercial burglary alarm activation was reported on Forest Dale Road. It was later determined that there was a problem with the alarm system and that the activation was due to a faulty sensor.
Found/Lost Property, Conant Square
A debit card was found on Conant Square and turned into the police department. The owner was contacted regarding the card.
Found/Lost Property, North Street
A brown leather wallet was located on the road on North Street. The wallet was dropped off at the police department and was later released to the wife of the wallet's owner.
Animal Incident, Forest Dale Road
Received a call regarding both loose cows and geese in the area of Forest Dale Road. The area was checked, but the animals were not located in the vicinity.
VIN Verification, Prescott Lane
A VIN verification was requested on Prescott Lane.
April 13
Welfare Check, Mulcahy Drive
A welfare check was requested on a female on Mulcahy Drive. Due to the fact that there were no Brandon Police officers on duty at the time, the request was forwarded to the Vermont State Police to investigate.
Alarm, Brandon Police Department
A building alarm activation was reported on Forest Dale Road. It was later determined that the alarm was false and that there was an issue with the alarm system.
Traffic Hazard, Smalley Road
Officers were advised of a traffic hazard on Smalley Road due to low-hanging wires. Fidium was notified of the downed wires so that they could send a crew out to repair them.
Identity Theft, Forest Dale Road
Received a complaint of identity theft by an Alburgh resident possibly involving an individual who resides in Brandon. An investigation was opened, but later closed due to a lack of evidence to support the allegation(s) by the victim.
