BRANDON, Vt. — Saturday March 28 was the third No Kings protest, the previous being held in June 2025 and October 2025.

The October 2025 No Kings rally drew an estimated seven million attendees nationwide, according to CNN and five million nationwide for June. This time there were over 3,200 events scheduled nationally.

No Kings is an organized non-violent demonstration against perceived governmental overreach and threats to democracy by President Trump and his administration, including the actions of Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and now an ongoing war with Iran.

Estimates from the organizers are that about 300 people showed up for the protest in Brandon. The third No Kings protest also included events in neighboring Pittsford and Middlebury.

Like the other No Kings events this one was peaceful. Traffic at the Brandon stretch of Route 7 honked and waved in support. Residents were out with their creative signs. Dogs were wearing anti-establishment messages. People played music and talked about town news and there was a table with free cupcakes. These might sound like small town details, but they are reliable demonstrations of community, which in Vermont continue to be prevalent and vital.

Several gentlemen in Brandon brought flags which openly espoused monarchy, saying "Trump: Long Live The King." One man, with a handgun in his belt, stood behind a sign saying "Support your local ICE raids.” These were subject to disagreement by passing cars suggesting that their support for monarchy and authoritarianism might not, in fact, be very popular.
